community development

A community can be seen as a group ( wide/small) of people living in a particular environment, having their rules, regulations... and most importantly sharing the same vision. In a given town called "Gande" , there is a leader ( mayor) , councillors, ressources ( human financial, technical...) and population. The mayor Mr XB was elected for by his population for 5 years according to his plan of development. Gande belongs to a country where bribery, corruption, nepotism, embezzlement, and other societal vices have settled in the minds of almost the entire population. One of the most appalling situation of Gande is that of unemployment. Young graduands and specialised technicians are jobless and there are no possibilities for having funds via banks, or credit union to develop a business. Laws in force don't encourage investment. Consequently Gande is a jungle where the "have will always exploit, plunder the ressources to the detriment of the have nots". Two year earlier, Mr XB was elected as the mayor of this city. A young, dynamic , enthusiastic, love and appreciated man. An epitome of development through projects, programs and other activties. During the first year, Mr XB achieved almost all his goals namely, constructing schools, hospital, a stadium , sponsoring project development geared towards women. Gande saw the essentiel number of its youth been dynamic. Unfortunately, big DOGS of that country dislike such practices inherited from a no where origin.Through illegal acts and tricks, Mr XB was dismissed by evil fighting for no progress. The new elected , an ally of big DOGS spared no effort to bring back the " sad image" of the city.
Stories of this nature abound in most of african and third world countries.Question can be set from many angles and there will be a single answer: the mental poverty. For, the world before it was created, was thought.Thought preceed creation. A communtity, a nation , a population can only grow when developmental plans were elaborated under a share, a common view. Why is it then that views can't be oriented towards the same direction? May be time will tell, or those people must take in hands their own reign.

Orienting to a Common Direction

Tragedies such as those of Mr. XB abound. Unfortunately, society often looks the other way because of the threat of impending doom for those who report on such things. Granted, this is wrong, and something should be done to eradicate the mindset of these "big dogs." What is something that those with your/my mindset can do to alleviate problems such as these?

Banding together will surely help. Publicizing and broadcasting these problems will help as well. But my thought is that educating the masses (civilian population) will provide the greatest long term change. Any other thoughts?
