A sad day

Life is like death , you don't know when you come in nor when you leave the earth. A beam of sun flashes on you face and you think the whole day will be brigher. And as long as the day goes by, a dark cloud suddenly coming from nowhere, shed its choking smoke on you face. All of a sudden, anguish, anxiety, sadness and other related emotions settle you. A closest friend just called me around 2.pm to inform me that he has just received money from an insurance company as being the contribution of the company as the result of the death of his mother. As I picked up the phone , I could hear him sobbing, and immediately he utterred: "How can I receive money from this insurance company as ........" I suddenly guessed his state of mind all about and felt sad. I could remember the intimacy between him and his late mother. This was broken an evening friday , 13 oct 2006 when she passed away in a car accident in a high way. When he started talking again , he asked me what was the essence of this money? This amount of money, he would have spent it in a heartily way in case his late was found with a disease or facing any other difficulties but now...it was painful. He was planning to send it back when I advised him to use it for the purchuse of books, exercice books, pens, pencils of his younger brothers and sisters since school will resume in one week. I let him know that his mother'soul will be glad if the money is used in a worthy manner and it will the best way to honour her soul. After listening to me carefully, he breathed profoundly and from the bottom of his heart he said " thank you and may GOD bless you" . When he put down the phone a drop of tear ran suddenly on face and a cloud of sadness and joy filled up my heart.
I want to find out from you what is the essence of life?

Studying abroad for young africans

As simple as this set of words appears, one find himself embarassed to give a concise answer to the question :is it necessary to study abroad for african? A socio-cultural , political and economical state of our countries fostered this dire need. How could our nation be built without trained, educated and instructed human resources? Our countries were" huge building sites". In the education domain, teachers, professors were needed in the primary, secondary and superior sectors. specialised and professionalised human resource constituted a salient priority for nation. In the field of health, physicians( specialised in diverse areas) were urgent to heal and care physical, intellectual and emotional diseases. The same applied in technology, others areas. However, after four decades after their independance, after the departure of" those who helped us to acquire the Promethea' flamme", can we feel ourselves thoroughly free, exempted of any cultural, political or economical dependance? Is there a growing need to reshape our societies or our minds?
Let us ponder on this situation which has been a major concern. For almost two decades, some richer and more confortable families have been sending their children for abroad study.Once studies were finshed some returned to their respective countries while other stayed for job opportunities. Progressively, other groups of societ ( the less rich, poors) started raising funds for the same purpose and the result is the same.
However with the landing of " INTERNET" in our airpors ( countries), bringing an overwhelmed changes in the structure our of minds, the question above set find all its relevance. Do africans need to study abroad again when we know that they have at their disposal this salient tool called " INTERNET"?

school resumption a real nuisance for parents

There are some periods in the course of year which are moments of much excitments. Among them , is the school resumption period.Parents from different categories of works life face that period with different approaches. In a third world country as ours, where the gap between the poors and well-to-do is wide spread, the poor man sorrow is the rich man joy. The bulk of civil servants living in a precarious situation, can't afford in a satisfactorily manner the education of their children. Wages are extremely scanty, rendering the social landscape not vivid. There is no where to find a better situation. Banks, credit unions , other financial institutions together with the state put in place a malicious and vicious mechanism which consists of borrowing or advancing civil servants salary . This, in effect ,does not solve the problem of low salary. This is the first obstacle rendering the process tedious. The second one is related to the school fees and mechanism to admission. With the school fees, they vary according to schools. Government school fees seem to be affordable while private ones are regarded as "unreachable hill top " by the large number of population. In government schools, practices such as bribery, corruption have settled firmly in the minds of principals. A student whose parents have been transfered in another city may not get the admission easily. Also a student whose report card shows his dismissal from the school can be found in the next academic year in the same school. In one case or in another, parents are bound to have their wallets, purses or pockets stuffed with money. The amount for the recruitment vary from schools and others factors. In primary schools , school fees which were forbidden thanks to a decree are required by some principals. However, efforts have been done by the minister in charge of education to sanction such irregularities. Besides, one observes that the documentation ( books) indispensable for the student have been changing year after year.In the superior sector , institutes, and specialised schools give birth like mushroms. The whole educational system is becoming incontrolable. Considering those few appalling situations taking root in such a country, what are the measures to be taken by who?

community development

A community can be seen as a group ( wide/small) of people living in a particular environment, having their rules, regulations... and most importantly sharing the same vision. In a given town called "Gande" , there is a leader ( mayor) , councillors, ressources ( human financial, technical...) and population. The mayor Mr XB was elected for by his population for 5 years according to his plan of development. Gande belongs to a country where bribery, corruption, nepotism, embezzlement, and other societal vices have settled in the minds of almost the entire population. One of the most appalling situation of Gande is that of unemployment. Young graduands and specialised technicians are jobless and there are no possibilities for having funds via banks, or credit union to develop a business. Laws in force don't encourage investment. Consequently Gande is a jungle where the "have will always exploit, plunder the ressources to the detriment of the have nots". Two year earlier, Mr XB was elected as the mayor of this city. A young, dynamic , enthusiastic, love and appreciated man. An epitome of development through projects, programs and other activties. During the first year, Mr XB achieved almost all his goals namely, constructing schools, hospital, a stadium , sponsoring project development geared towards women. Gande saw the essentiel number of its youth been dynamic. Unfortunately, big DOGS of that country dislike such practices inherited from a no where origin.Through illegal acts and tricks, Mr XB was dismissed by evil fighting for no progress. The new elected , an ally of big DOGS spared no effort to bring back the " sad image" of the city.
Stories of this nature abound in most of african and third world countries.Question can be set from many angles and there will be a single answer: the mental poverty. For, the world before it was created, was thought.Thought preceed creation. A communtity, a nation , a population can only grow when developmental plans were elaborated under a share, a common view. Why is it then that views can't be oriented towards the same direction? May be time will tell, or those people must take in hands their own reign.
